A PROPOSAL FOR A WORKERS NEWS DESK

After this election, we will go eyeball to eyeball on class struggle.

I’m not sure it’s obvious to everybody, but it’s obvious to a lot of people that fascism is imminent in America. Even if the elections provide a setback for them or a little hiatus for us, the push for fascism from the boss class will continue.

Most of us analyzed the 2026 elections and applied ourselves correctly. We built a mighty vote against them. Afterward, we are the best leadership for our working class. We have a good outreach program, but we could have a better one if we think it through and apply ourselves.

* Organize more articles and input for the working class news outlets

* Upgrade our on-line work

* Engage more of our members and supporters, no matter where they are

* Reach more people, persuade more people

* Consolidate more members

* Raise more money

We Could Expand What We’re Already Doing

A Substack account could function as a “ Workers News Desk” to gather and disseminate working-class news and commentary. Short notes, major articles, videos, and podcasts can go on Substack. Links to existing materials can be listed. Short meetings for worker correspondents can be held. Our account could recruit and engage members. It could raise money.

Substack is free. Let’s get started while people are looking for answers in the wake of the election results on November 3.

Current News Lacks Class Analysis

We don’t necessarily have to gather a lot of unpublished news. What is already published would be a lot better with a little class analysis.

Here are some examples of how we might re-word local news. Take these headlines that are already published this week:

Voters fear the America they’ve known is slipping away. On that, the left and right agree Fort Worth Star Telegram

What the article doesn’t say, because it doesn’t have a class view, is that people are right. In fact, it’s probably the main reason Trump has won elections: Corporate America really is losing its worldwide dominance.

At the end of WWII, corporate United States dominated both militarily AND economically. They were able to impose a world financial system that benefitted (guess who?) American corporations and the small group of white men who own them.

In 1972, they had to back off that system a little bit when Nixon dropped the gold standard (since the U.S. no longer owned all the gold). But they were able to keep the financial system based, mostly, on petro dollars. In the past few years, that has been slipping away. Nations are buying and selling without using dollars! That’s why the bosses want, need, must have, coercive solutions to their domestic and international problems. That’s the reason for fascism.

Here’s another headline with no class content:

Ruling class recommendations reflect uncertainty in Dallas Morning News. https://eedition.dallasnews.com/app/DAMONE/editionguid/47efca64-40ca-4eb3-9b81-e75f1d930e80

They endorsed Democrats for two of the top four offices, and made “no endorsement” for the other two! Class analysis will show that some of the boss class, and its news outlets, aren’t sure what to do!

What About the Boss Class?

“…in 2014, the top 40 [election donors] gave to Democrats two to one, but this year the top 40 gave to Republicans three to one over Democrats.” “Musk alone has given $483m so far in the midterms, a figure double what Soros gave to Democrats in 2022.” Guardian  https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2026/nov/02/who-funded-midterms

Follow the money for class interests. The major donors play whichever of their political parties suits them the most. In 2026, they have clearly gone over to the MAGA Republican side.

What About the War?

All working people hate war, so why do we keep fighting them?

America’s Arab Allies Brace for War as Trump’s Midterm Deadline Looms

U.S. allies in the Middle East were bracing for war after the midterms, regardless of the outcome.

You may not want to hear this, but the truth is that the Democrats haven’t been any better than the Republicans on the major issues of economics and international war. That’s why one of them can start a war in Iran and some politicians from the other party support it! U.S. allies are bracing for war, no matter which party wins because neither party is against war.

Individuals Make Class Warfare More Understandable

“in 2014, the top 40 [election donors] gave to Democrats two to one, but this year the top 40 gave to Republicans three to one over Democrats.” “Musk alone has given $483m so far in the midterms, a figure double what Soros gave to Democrats in 2022.” Guardian  https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2026/nov/02/who-funded-midterms

Hardly anybody in America even knows what a “class” is, much less how they develop and what they will do. There’s an easy explanation. But we understand individuals like Elon Musk much better.

Musk now claims to be a Texan, but everybody knows he came from apartheid South Africa and brought fascism with him. There have been headlines saying that Ken Paxton’s entire Republican campaign for Senator from Texas was financed by Musk. It’s a measure of desperation that Paxton’s own campaign raised the least $$$ of several organizations backing him. Musk contributed the most, Paxton the least!

A “boss class” may sound murky, but people know Elon Musk!

Any Good News For Our Side of the Class War?

Early vote set new national records. “Enthusiasm among union members about voting in this year’s election is 83%, 10 percentage points greater than it was in the last off-year vote in 2022, an AFL-CIO survey shows.” “…it’s 12 percentage points higher than enthusiasm among any other subgroup of voters, the federation adds.” https://peoplesworld.org/article/voter-enthusiasm-among-union-members-soars-this-time-around/

Union members are undeniably working class because they make their living almost completely from selling their labor.

The ascent of the working class in political clout is the best thing about this election so far. I noticed that the AFL-CIO said “83% of union members,” not “83% of union members who are registered to vote.” The difference is qualitative.

My understanding is that the last presidential election brought 65% of those registered to vote, but only 45% of those who were eligible to vote.  “Eligible voters” are citizens of voting age, but a big chunk of them aren’t registered.

If these figures can be relied on, then union members from the working class would be voting at almost twice the level of eligible voters in 2024!”

So Why Do We Need Class Warfare News?

It’s been true for a long time, but now people are realizing it: We’re eyeball to eyeball with fascism!
